The Settlement

The Settlement refers to all history between the arrival of the Vaelorian Pantheon and the subsequent era known as The Fracture. It was during this era that Vaelorys was founded by the Divine Beings who created Mortal life in their own images. Many modern religions and practices have their origins in this time period.

It is said that Elves and Dwarves were the first two species created; followed after by other species like Humans and Gnomes.

”…The Settlement was the founding of Vaelorys as we know it - where the Gods blessed us with life and allowed us to share their home with them.

Some of our oldest traditions date back to this time - including funeral rites and marriage ceremonies. The city of Lex’Emplitus was the crown jewel of civilization at the time and housed a truly astonishing 65% of all Mortal life at the time.

Much of our understanding of The Settlement is spotty at best due to the tumultuous time period that followed it, but we are doing our best to improve our understanding of where we once came from - however trivial it might be to some…”
- Excerpt about The Settlement from a text dating back to The Arcanic Age..

Vaelorys; whilst tame compared to it’s discovered state, still proved extremely dangerous for Mortals, who frequently died well before they were supposed to. To combat this; the Gods began to imbue a sliver of their Magic within Mortals - leading to the first recorded uses of Divine Magic.

Lascyan, The Scaled Saviour also created the first Dragons in his image and that of his sister; Avaracia, The Winged Empress, to protect a large collection of defenceless Mortals. For a time after this - the world knew an extended period of piece for the first time. The origins of Vaelorys’s name come from the two original Dragons - Vaelya and Za’Korys.

Mortal civilization blossomed under this new age of protection and larger cities with huge monuments to their creators were constructed - the largest of which was known as Lex’Emplitus. However it was not to last and The Settlement ended as The Fracture started.
