Session 24

As the alarms blared through the countless layers of the Grand Gaol - The Fated Eight quickly pondered the three options presented by Davison, eventually coming the decision that the Feywild was the logical option - being that SHAI had business there and given that it was the least likely place to be found. Davison cast his unique Warp spell as the party watched their vision stretch and time slow around them. Their peaceful travel was short-lived however as Axton and Kezark first noticed green bolts of energy fly towards Morgyn; hitting something nearby the Human Artificer/Cleric. 4 more bolts came flying towards Lady, SHAI, Aurevald, and Jin - similarly hitting something other than them; just over their shoulders. A moment later - numerous green crackling tendrils rushed towards Davison and attached themselves to him; throwing him against the “walls” of the Warp spell as he crashed through into the white void beyond. Without the caster of the spell present - The Fated Eight were helpless as they felt themselves hurtle out of control before landing with a deafened THUD.

As each member awoke - they noticed the deep, powdery snow around them; recognizing it likely drastically reduced the impact of being thrust from the Warp spell. SHAI - particularly affected by the nausea from such a sudden change in momentum; came under with a condition often referred to as Warp Sickness. As frigid winds battered them; a look around presented only two options to the party - a large rocky path up a steep mountain that seemed to be shielded from the conditions, and a welcoming wooden cabin that was further away. SHAI felt the call of the Feywild from the mountain pass and started rushing towards it - but the others convinced him to follow them to the cabin to make sense of the conditions. The cabin was well lit, and warm - with roasting meats, toasting marshmallows, and hot cocoa being served through unclear Magical means. No one was home - but the party made notice of a large pair of red leather boots adorned with white fur around the edges. Under a decorated pine tree was a simple tied present box - and each member of the party found a small present for each of them inside. After each of them had received their presents - a 8th present box - sealed - was found inside. It was unclear who it was meant for but they stashed it in the Bag Of Holding. The Fated Eight discussed where they could possibly be; and what could have happened to Davison - before making their way to sleep for the night.

A new day came, as morning brought with it much calmer winds and direction. SHAI eagerly left to explore the Fey rune carved into the staircase leading up the mountain pass, whilst they others tried too ascertain where their location was. Aurevald noticed a familiar constellation in sky - The Southern Hilt - and used it’s position; along with other gleamable information, to gather that they were almost certainly on the continent of Saeylis. SHAI acknowledged that there was a magical barrier that seemed to act as a one-way gate - preventing people from returning back this way once they passed through. A small discussion was has before the group eventually passed through the gate and up through the mountain pass - before arriving a similar one-way gate at the other end after an hour of walking. The gate lead to a clearing in the mountains where 8 chiseled stone pillars could be seen surrounding a large stone recession. In the middle of the stone recession was a mess of cobbled stones seemingly bound by an Arcane Magic rune. Around 100ft beyond the recession was a larger stone archway that SHAI recognized as ancient Fey Runegate’s - one of the earliest means of transportation between the Material Plane and the Feywild. It lay dormant however, seemingly suppressed by the rune in the center of the stone recession. After a short investigation - and confirmation the the rune was a that of a Sealing nature - many of the spell casters thrust spells forward at the rune as it crumbled away with each invocation. After fading completely; a red mist poured from stones as they fell to the ground - before a withered corpse dressed in red robes appeared from the mist. His empty eye-sockets glowed an ominous red as he engaged The Fated Eight in combat.

Saint Necromanta launched an assault of spells against The Fated Eight - as the party managed to work together to surround him. In response; the Lich called forth spirits from the ground that allowed him to swap places with them. As the two sides exchanged blows - green flames alit atop a fraction of the pillars in a clockwise fashion - and after all 8 pillars were alit; Saint Necromanta was imbued with a strong magical presence that completed his transformation into Lichdom. It was clear the Arcanically inclined that something was unusual about this Lich’s physiology. The fight dragged on as The Fated Eight managed to resist an onslaught of spells thrown at them by Saint Necromanta - before Morgyn managed to land the killing blow on the withered spellcaster. The Fated Eight watched as the corrupted corpse vanished in a cloud of red smog - as they each took a moment to tend to their wound and catch their breath.

SHAI and Axton noticed a large glowing orb in the centre of the recession - where the sealing stone had once been - and the latter recognized it as an Orb Of Arcane Potential; which with the right tools it could be used to forge or enhance Magical items - but at the very least it could garner a pretty penny (10,000 gold or more). As The Fated Eight regained their composure - they watched as the Fey Runegate opposite them alit, now un-suppressed - before noticing a large Humanoid figure with wings floating down. The figure introduced himself as Saint Nicholas - and thanked the party for their efforts in freeing him from a curse - before explaining that before he was a Solar, he had once been a Human who lived in these lands. The bookworms in the party recalled hearing tales of select individuals who had been granted Angellic powers as rewards for piety in the days of The Cataclysm. He provided some healing to the party - thinking that they would be saying farewells - but was instead accompanied back to the cabin by The Fated Eight - desiring a good night’s rest before continuing through the Fey Runegate. Upon arrival - they noticed that the cabin was now largely bare and untended; suggesting that an enchantment had been released on the cabin with the destruction of the Sealing Rune. The party set down for the night - battered from combat - and made their way to sleep.

Morning arrived, and The Fated Eight gathered their things before scaling the now un-enchanted mountain pass and towards the Fey Runegate.
