Summary
Section titled โSummaryโThe current era of Vaelorys. The world has begun to flourish once more, although not hitting the heights of The Arcanic Age or having the religious miracles of The Settlement. It has been a period of relative global peace, although there have been local and regional conflicts that remind Mortals that war and ruin is not an activity exclusive to the Gods.
The current year is 920 PD.
A summary of some notable events during this time period
The 5 Kingdoms of Kaelethys; the largest continent on Vaelorys, agree to operate as one nation for the purposes of trade and political stability. A democratic process elects a member from each nation to play a role on The Prime Council.
The size and unity of this nation allows it to become a global superpower, remaining as such in the modern day.
Terick Vaena arrives from overseas and settles much of Otheriaโs societies under one banner. He claims the city of Roan as his seat of power for the Vaena Kingdom - becoming the first Monarch of Terick.
200 PD - Stahnโs Rebellion
Section titled โ200 PD - Stahnโs RebellionโA group of rebels from the North lead a strong military campaign against the Vaena Kingdom and earn their independence - with the Brackett Range acting as the border. Eldahn The Great is immortalized as the now-capital city of Stahn is is named Eldahn in his honour.
Independent explorers caught a glimpse of rare fruits, minerals, and treasure on the border of Terick and Orsana; the desert nation to the East, but none are able to cross the unforgiving sands between them. The Orsanae people are seemingly able to do so, but prove unwillingly to share this information.
Krike Wildborn arrives in Forestโs Edge from the North and manages to quell the fighting between two rival gangs vying for power. Krike Wildborn becomes a de facto leader within Forestโs Edge - providing wisdom & neutrality that neither gang was willing or able to do so.
890 PD - Tensions Rise
Section titled โ890 PD - Tensions RiseโThe Desert Of Despair becomes the site of the first recorded blood being drawn between Orsana and Terick - with two of Terickโs Captains being slain at what would one day be called Camp Valleview and Camp Blackwood.
This begins a trend of border skirmishes between the two nations that would continue to escalate to a point indistinguishable with a war. It earned the colloquial title of โBlood & Sandโ by critics who did not appreciate the Vaena Kingdomโs cover-up of the growing conflict.
907 PD - The War of Blood & Sand โBeginsโ
Section titled โ907 PD - The War of Blood & Sand โBeginsโโKing Terick II officially declares the conflict with Orsana a war - in response to mounting public & private pressure. Dannick Vaena is named Archcaptain of Terickโs military in the same announcement.
Tarlon Vaena III; elder son of King Terick II, is killed by a rouge member of the Kingโs own court. The captor supposedly escaped South and there is a large bounty on their head.
A public announcement is released in Vaelorn of this year that details that assassins from Orsana had infiltrated Zenytha and slain Kendran Vaena earlier in the year - the last living heir of King Terick II.
There are calls for Dannick Vaena to succeed the throne as well as criticisms thrown to the lack of transparency from the Vaena Kingdom about The War of Blood & Sand.
